Request Support
Before we assist you, please complete the following form. All questions are asked to best assist you.
All answers are kept private.
Our intake system is designed for people seeking specific information about their complex workplace situation. Before submitting an intake, we suggest looking at our Workers’ Rights Guide to see if you can find a quick answer to your question.
We are temporarily pausing new, non-urgent intakes while we work on the backlog of recent cases.
Intakes submitted on or after May 6th will not be responded to quickly unless you indicate that your situation is an emergency (this includes: mass layoffs/termination, wage theft with looming repercussions like eviction, or otherwise any issue that is urgently affecting a group of workers). Please indicate the nature of your emergency on our intake form.

The Halifax Workers’ Action Centre is comprised of workers in the community and volunteer law students who are supervised by an employment lawyer. We typically provide legal information about your rights at work and options on how you can move forward. We offer select services for legal advice and representation.
Because of the nature of collective agreements, the Halifax WAC can only offer support to non-unionized workers. If you are a member of a union and are experiencing difficulty, please contact your union representative.
Estimated current wait time to speak with a member of the legal information team is: 1.5 weeks
